Welcome!
Hello and welcome to my campaign e-Headquarters.

I appreciate your interest in my candidacy for Governor. As a Republican state senator and practicing physician I am constantly involved in the issues facing our state and the many challenges individuals confront on a daily basis.
Having worked twenty-five years in the medical field, for the last ten while serving in the legislature, I am the only candidate with ongoing experience in both the public and private sectors.
As you select a new Governor, I hope to receive your consideration and earn your vote. We all know that Michigan can, once again, be a place for growth and opportunities. It will take a Governor who understands the legislative and policy making process while at the same time is committed to serving the public. We do not have time for on the job training as we need a Governor who can instill confidence in our state by taking decisive action with realistic solutions.
Our tax dollars need to be spent more wisely and the state must live within its means. The public is tired of candidates who attempt to curry favor by promising to cut taxes and increase spending. During the first G.O.P. debate, while others vowed to cut taxes and increase spending, I pointed out that “the math doesn’t work!"
Driving the state into insolvency will not solve our problems. As the only candidate serving on an appropriations committee, I have repeatedly voted to balance our budget.
This campaign is about bringing jobs back to Michigan. As the only citizen-legislator in the race, I also understand that state government is not going to create those jobs, but rather that it shapes the environment that can produce job growth. That means readjusting the priorities of state government which under the current administration have been shifted from maintaining the state’s infrastructure to social spending.
Finally, major structural changes to state government itself are needed in order to make Michigan competitive once again. Things like a part-time legislature, budgeting reforms and a review of the role of local governments, are changes a governor alone cannot make but that can best be accommodated through constitutional change.
I am the only candidate who understands that a “yes” vote on this fall’s ballot proposal, which will ask whether Michigan should convene a constitutional convention, is a great opportunity to make the changes needed to reopen Michigan for business.
Fixing Michigan requires honesty about our fiscal situation, shifting resources from failed social services to investments in our future, and structural changes to state government itself. With its hard working people and bountiful natural resources, Michigan’s long-term future is bright. If we work together we can fix Michigan!
I would be honored to have your assistance in the work of fixing Michigan. Winning this election will take strong grassroots support which is how I won in a district that has a 53 percent Democratic base. You can help by subscribing to my e-mail newsletter, The George Examiner, signing up to be one of my grassroots volunteers, or by making a donation.
Let’s get to work!
Sincerely,

Tom George. M.D.
