SENATOR TOM GEORGE COMPLETES 2nd STAGE OF STATEWIDE TOUR

Second stage of statewide bike tour a success

Senator Tom George, MD (20th District, R-Kalamazoo), completed the second stage of his fix Michigan bicycle tour through mid-Michigan.  Having cycled 410 miles, Sen. George has visited 50 communities taking primarily back roads and trailways including the Kal-Haven Trail, Fred Meijer Heartland Trail, Saginaw Valley Trail, Harger Trail, Bay City Riverwalk/Railtrail, Pere Marquette Trail, Midland Loop Trail, and the White Pine Trail.

"As I cycle from one community to the next, I have met with a number of citizens who are concerned about the future of our state," said George.  "Our bicycle tour has been a great way to meet with groups and individuals and exchange ideas on how we can fix Michigan."

The third stage of Sen. George's fix Michigan bicycle tour will continue in August where he will be joined by friends, family and avid cyclists in the Upper Peninsula.

Sen. George is serving his second term in the state Senate, where he chairs the Health Policy Committee.  Prior to serving in the Senate, George served one term in the state House.  When the legislature is not in session, Sen. George continues to work part time as a physician.
