Sen. Tom George to participate in debate
State Senator Tom George, M.D. (R-Kalamazoo), issued the following statement after hearing from Michigan Republican Chairman, Ron Weiser, and Leon Drolet of the Michigan Taxpayers Alliance that the organization realized they should include Sen. George in the debate.
Fairness wins the day! Under pressure by our Republican leadership and grassroots activists, I am pleased to see that the Michigan Taxpayers Alliance decided to honor their initial invitation by allowing me to debate along with the other candidates for governor.
Thanks to Chairman Weiser for his efforts in making the right move to ensure that the first Republican Gubernatorial debate is open and fair. State party’s recognition of maintaining the integrity of our democratic process is greatly appreciated.
I look forward to a healthy debate of the issues with my fellow candidates and the opportunity to share with conference attendees my ideas on how to Fix Michigan.
