State Senator Tom George, M.D. (R-Kalamazoo), announced today that he will continue his Fix Michigan campaign with a bicycle tour through Detroit:

DATE:        Monday, October 5, 2009
TIME:        10:00 AM
PLACE:    Meeting at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School & Academy
ADDRESS:    8400 S. Cambridge, Detroit, MI 48221

The bicycle route will take the Fix Michigan tour through northwest Detroit, Highland Park, New Center, downtown Detroit, Belle Isle, East Grand Boulevard, and back to U of D Jesuit School.  The tour will break for lunch in Southwest Detroit (Mexican Town).   Leading the bicycle tour will be Tom O’Keefe who will also introduce Sen. George to individuals involved with Southwest Solutions, a group devoted to redeveloping and rehabbing housing in Detroit.

In August Sen. George met with the Motor City Blight Busters in Detroit where he introduced his plan to create a Detroit/Wayne County Redevelopment Authority.  “I am looking forward to returning to Detroit and cycling through the city to see how such a proposal will give communities and the city another tool to help address blighted properties,” said George.
