Ride from his district to Lansing is first stage in statewide bike tour
Senator Tom George, MD (20th District, R-Kalamazoo) announced today that he will begin a campaign tour of Michigan with his 3rd annual bike ride from Kalamazoo to Lansing on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 7:00 AM. Tom will begin his ride in the Village of Richland and will arrive 75 miles later at the Capitol steps at approximately 2:00 P.M.
"Making Michigan healthier is key to fixing Michigan's economy and healthy behavior is the most important factor in maintaining our health," said Sen. George.
Other riders are encouraged to participate by cycling to the rendezvous spot where they can join the George team at 2:00 PM at the Capitol steps.
George, a practicing physician and avid cyclist, has sponsored legislation to allow insurance companies to give discounts for healthy behavior, and to expand insurance coverage to the uninsured. This ride is the kick-off to his campaign bike tour of Michigan.
George will be available to take questions at the Capitol following his ride.
